Product Description
Dr Pepper was introduced in Texas in December of 1885 as a new kind of drink, not fruity or like cola, but, a soda pop with its very own distinct flavor. The marketing slogan “Dr Pepper Time 10 – 2 – 4” promoted the idea that these hours were a good time for a “pick me up.”
Looking like a large bottle cap, the hours 10 – 2 – 4 are featured on the Dr Pepper sign. Sitting atop a downtown building in Roanoke, Virginia, it is one of several distinctive neon signs, including H&C Coffee and Mill Mountain Star, seen amidst the Roanoke skyline.
The Dr Pepper sign has been a part of Roanoke Valley’s history since the 1940s. In 1957 the Roanoke Valley was proclaimed the “Dr Pepper Capitol of the World.”
