Product Description
The historic Roanoke City Farmers’ Market is the oldest continuously operating open air market in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Since the early 1880s Roanoke Valley farmers have sold their fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers along Market Street in Downtown Roanoke. Recognized nationally as a “Great American Public Place,” the Farmers’ Market joins other recipients of the prestigious Lyndhurst Foundation award ad Central Park in New York and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washing, DC.
Before the introduction of frozen foods, The City Market Building was filled with meat and seafood shops. It is now the centerpiece of Market Square, currently housing an international food court.
